Welcome to 2025 - A New Years Message from our CTSO President
Happy New Year Members! I hope you all were able to enjoy happy and healthy holidays.
January is a sobering month. I have always enjoyed the quieter pace. Even when I was still teaching, I noticed that the students were free from the distractions of the holidays. We have also turned a corner with the new year. Even though we are still facing some cold months, we are headed toward longer days. Our state organization also has a busy schedule ahead.
The Curriculum of Hope’s Pieces for Peace art show has made it to southern Connecticut. The Case Memorial Library in Orange showed the pieces in December and they are presently hanging in the Meriden library. Branford would like to show them for two months and Stratford will show them in May and June. If you know of a local library that shows artwork, please let me know. This is a wonderful opportunity to not only increase the number of people who have seen the works, but also promote our society.
Our finance committee will prepare a budget next month and it will be presented to our executive board in March. Members will vote on it at our April convention.
The CTSO spring convention will take place on Saturday, April 26 in Matties Hall at the Oliver Ellsworth Homestead in Windsor. Members will have the opportunity to have a private tour of the Homestead at the end of the convention. Our speaker will be Eileen Little, chair of the Northeast State Organizations for Presidents. Our nomination committee will present your officers for 2025-2027.
I have attended chapter meetings for Alpha, Beta, Lambda, Delta, Theta, and of course Zeta. I do not get tired of attending meetings and chatting with members. (I have been to 3 Delta meetings and one member asked if I would be joining their chapter!) The programs have all been interesting. Presidents, consider posting your programs on our website. We do not just belong to a chapter—we are part of a state organization and an international organization.
As always, I am available for questions, concerns, suggestions, (and invitations!)
